A Charmed Life...

It is no rarity to find a homeless pit bull running the streets of Los Angeles. What is very rare is for LAPD to come across a pit bull so endearing, that even a hardened police officer could not bring himself to deliver the dog to a shelter. Charmer was found running the streets of Los Angeles after escaping neglect and abandonment. Like clockwork every day, he would appear to say hello to police officers, always trying to climb into their patrol car to become part of their family. In an extremely rare attempt to spare Charmer's life, LAPD reached out to the rescue community and that is where it all began. Charmer was released to Take Me Home Rescue. Once in our custody, Charmer was moved to a foster home where we learned just how friendly and easy going he was. From day one, he lived in harmony with a variety of dogs. He even befriended the two cats in his foster home; his favorite of which would join Charmer on his walks; loyally following him around the block to make sure Charmer was safe. Sadly, Charmer’s time with us was cut all too short when we learned that he was suffering from Lymphoma; which ultimately took his life after a very brave fight and the best medical care we could possibly provide him. When we look back at the pain that this dog endured in his short life, we are convinced that he was put here for a very special purpose; so that all who knew him could learn from his positive outlook on life. Thank you Charmer for blessing us with your selfless spirit and infectious smile. May we never forget the lesson you taught us; that it is never too late to live a "Charmed” life.
