Amber Alert|Desperately Seeking Babu!

Today, Take Me Home received a heart breaking email from Babu's Mom along with this flyer. Babu was left in the car for 20 minutes last December. When Babu's Mom returned to her car, Babu was gone. Her Mom has exhausted all efforts to find Babu. She put up flyers, placed ads in newspapers and on websites. She has checked all animal shelters in surrounding area. What makes the situation critical and urgent is that Babu was under medical care at the time of her dognapping. Babu needs her medicine!

Babu was dognapped nearly four months ago and her appearance may have been altered.

This is a painful reminder why we cannot leave our dogs in our cars unattended or tied outside Starbucks or other shops or businesses. Dognapping is more common than people think. More than 100,000 dogs and cats are stolen each year. Dogs are kidnaped for puppy mills, dog fighting rings (as bait or to fight), and biomedical research laboratories. According to Americans for Medical Progress, approximately 65,000 dogs and cats are purchased by research facilities from USDA Licensed Class B dealers every year. There are disputes on how the Class B dealers obtain some of the dogs and cats. Many fear that family pets may be dognapped because they are easier to handle for labs. Even if the dealers are caught in violation, they were rarely cited.

Just as we wouldn't leave a young child in a car or tied outside Starbucks, please never leave your animal in a car or on a sidewalk! Please help spread Babu's story in hopes that she will be returned to her Mom safely and please remind every dog parent you know how dangerous it is to leave their dogs unattended. THANK YOU!
